ANDROPAUSE – THE “MEN” IN MENOPAUSE

Andropause – THE “MEN” IN MENOPAUSE

MEN, LISTEN UP

So, you get to what you think is life’s halfway stage. Something feels different. You can’t sleep, or you sleep too much. You can get irritable or angry for no reason. Your moods are like shapeshifters. You look in the mirror and wonder where did your pecs go only to be replaced by love handles you hate. Sex? Take it or leave it. Could be menopause or better know as andropause. No, we’re not kidding. The term “male menopause” actually characterizes the age-related hormonal changes that gradually take place in all men as they get older. And we’re not talking “older”, as in starting to walk over the hill with a walker. In particular, this natural transition affects a man’s testosterone levels. They decline. Sometimes with your health, and overall way of life.

WOULD IT MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER TO CALL MALE MENOPAUSE “ANDROPAUSE”?

Male menopause and andropause are really one and the same. So we’ll go with andropause here.

Andropause, derived from the Greek for ‘when masculinity ceases’, is used to describe the male condition that shares some of the same symptoms as women’s menopause. Andropause differs from female menopause in several ways. For one thing, not all men experience it. For another, it doesn’t involve a complete shutdown of your reproductive organs. Women’s menopause is a well-defined period of time that begins as soon as ovulation ends. Women’s hormones plummet during a relatively short time. In men, the production of testosterone and other hormones declines much more slowly.

WATCH OUT, MEN

According to the Mayo Clinic, most men’s testosterone levels peak in adolescence and early adulthood. After age 30 or 40, those levels tend to decline by about 1 percent per year. By age 70, your testosterone level might reach closer to 50 percent of your peak level. Approximately 30% of men in their 50s will experience symptoms of andropause. But hold it…more and more studies are showing more and more younger men—even in their 20’s, experiencing andropause. Low testosterone can happen to any guy. At any age, really.

TESTOSTERONE PUTS MEN TO THE TEST

By any name, low testosterone can be troublesome. As it wanes, it starts to lose some of its superpower hormone status. In some cases, depression may be the first symptom of low T that men notice. They just attribute it to the age of anxiety we’ve been living in fighting the pandemic, fighting for social justice, and just plain fighting over politics. So they may go to a shrink before they think to get their testosterone levels checked. The sexual side effects of andropause are another of the most common symptoms, and men are even less inclined to see someone about it. The problem is, that ED, loss of libido, less firm erections, and testicular shrinkage don’t just disappear if you don’t think about them.

HOT FLASH; MEN GET HOT FLASHES, TOO

Oh, and night sweats. Increased body fat. Decreased bone density. Reduced muscle mass. Rapid hair loss. Brain fog. Trouble focusing. Persistent fatigue. Enlarged breasts. And ooh no…belly jelly. If your testosterone level drops, you may accumulate more fat around your middle. In turn, an enzyme in your fat tissue converts testosterone to estrogen. This can cause your testosterone level to drop even more.

WISE MEN

“Not feeling yourself” is an understatement. But learning to understand the full impact of low testosterone and seeking out real help is the smartest thing you could do for yourself. And we don’t mean your general doctor. Because generally, they don’t specialize in hormone imbalances. And most likely, they’ll diagnose your ailments as anything but andropause. In fact, it will probably never even come up in the conversation. This is why it’s important for you to find a medical professional you can trust with a treatment that fits you as a whole.

MEN, THIS COULD CHANGE EVERYTHING.

The good way.

For more than 18 years, Thrive Health Solutions has been treating patients for hormone imbalances. The medical hormone experts at Thrive probably know more about testosterone than anyone in the Denver area. Their entire staff of professionals has one goal—to make you feel your best. They want to know all about you. And the first thing they’re going to want to know is whether or not low testosterone is really what’s going on. Advanced tests will tell them your precise levels. If your numbers are low, Thrive knows exactly what to do. Just for you. Safe, natural, and individualized bioidentical testosterone replacement therapy that could include pellets or easy-to-take testosterone injections, makes it possible for Thrive to manage many of the negative side-effects associated with age-related testosterone decline. NEW YEAR. NEW YOU. LOSE WEIGHT NOW.

2020 is finally gone and it is time to get rid of that 2020 “20” and lose weight. In 2020, the ball dropped in March. It was crazy. There we were, cocooned in oversized sweats. Searching for a new pet. Hunting for elusive toilet paper. Couldn’t spend time with loved ones. Egg and Cheese McMuffins with crispy hash browns and a side of Griddles became the Breakfast of Champions. Our minds wandered aimlessly, and had to ask for directions home. But it is 2021 and time to move on, make new year’s resolutions. But this year counts more than ever. We need to start fresh, lose weight, learn new things, look and feel younger, take better care of our health. And, Thrive Health Solutions is here to help your 2021 thrive.

BROKEN RESOLUTIONS CAN MAKE US FEEL BROKEN ALL OVER

Let’s take a look at what could make keeping our resolutions as seemingly difficult as Congress arriving at a Stimulus Package.

When it comes to losing weight:

  • Grubhub and DoorDash have become family
  • I ran past the Covid “15” months ago, and that was my only cardio

When it comes to learning new things:

  • Every day is cloudy with a good chance of constant brain fog
  • I wish I could social distance from depression

When it comes to looking and feeling younger:

  • Mirror, mirror on the…nope, not looking in any mirror soon
  • My “not tonight, hon” has turned to don’t bother asking

And finally, when it comes to taking better care of your health:

  • My sleep is so insufficient I’m not just counting sheep, I’m naming them
  • I could be woke if I wasn’t so exhausted

TURN NEGATIVITY TO POSITIVITY

Forget resolutions. For every negative thought and behavior, make a new, positive… let’s call it “goal”.  Think, “I hope I will, I have the will, I know I will.” And keep the message on repeat.

When it comes to losing weight

  • Never step on the scale blindfold again
  • Fill your plate with motivation. Have seconds. Even thirds

When it comes to learning new things:

  • Drop guilt at the airport with a one-way ticket
  • Aim for a glass that’s more than half full (and not with tequila or gin)

When it comes to looking and feeling younger:

  • Set up your cells for success
  • Tell wear-and-tear where to go

And when it comes to taking better care of your health:

  • Put the brakes on stress
  • Make your immune system soar
  • Turn your inner athlete into a beast

And let the caring, understanding medical experts at Thrive Health Solutions help you turn things around.

HAVE YOURSELF SOME VERY MERRY HORMONES

IT’S A WHOLE DIFFERENT CHRISTMAS STORY THIS YEAR

The holiday season is normally a hormonally disruptive time of the year. But this year, it’s stress with all the trimmings. Gingerbread men are driving you mad, and Jack Frost is in a nipping frenzy. And while Santa’s Workshop is considered an essential business, many elves are in quarantine, so you’re more on your own than ever. But hold on to your chestnuts. There’s a bright side to it all; “Happy Hormones.” While some hormones can make mincemeat of your holidays, Happy Hormones can put you in the holiday spirit by helping to promote positive feelings, including happiness and pleasure. We’re talking about serotonin, oxytocin, endorphins, and dopamine.

PEACE ON EARTH AND IN YOUR MIND

SEROTONIN is the feel-good hormone, a natural mood stabilizer that helps calm your mind to make you feel less anxious and more emotionally stable. A serotonin deficiency can cause depression, lack of worth, and a sense of isolation. Which gives a whole new meaning to that holiday favorite, “Home Alone.” Get that serotonin going by watching Miracle on 34th Street for the 100th time. It always feels great.

TIDINGS OF COMFORT AND JOY

OXYTOCIN is the love hormone. Oxytocin levels generally increase with physical affection like kissing and cuddling. Oxytocin is also released when you feel safe and protected. Deficiencies can make it hard to feel affection. There is a lack of enjoyment from social interactions. Which many of us aren’t able to have with all that’s going on anyway. Elbow bumps and virtual hugs aren’t quite the same, but be generous with them wherever you can.

MOVE AND BE MERRY

ENDORPHINS are often referred to as the runner’s hormone. They act as our body’s natural narcotics and painkiller. In addition to masking pain, endorphins are the surging “second wind “and euphoric “runner’s high” you can get during and after vigorous physical activity. When levels are balanced, you get a happy high whatever you do. When levels are low, anxiety and rage can raise their ugly heads. So get some sun, get some exercise, and don’t give in to an indoor slump.

GET BY WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM THE HORMONE ELVES

DOPAMINE is the motivation hormone. Sort of like your body’s “carrot,” helping you focus and get things done. Like getting through your endless holiday list of “to-do’s,” not to mention your kid’s endless lists of “gotta have.”  Healthy levels also give you a surge of reinforcing pleasure when achieving any goals you set. So bake those cookies and trim that tree. Don’t let “requires some assembly” send you to pieces.

DO A LITTLE DANCE WITH THE SUGAR PLUM FAIRIES

“Happy” may seem a little harder to get with “stay at home” at the helm of the holiday. But there are things you can do to keep the jingle in your bells:

  • Listen to music.
  • Go TikTok crazy.
  • YouTube every cute animal video your heart desires.
  • Take a bath. Take a glass of wine with you.
  • Have a virtual ugly sweater contest.
  • Light your Kwanzaa candles with joy
  • Make your latkes the lightest ever.
  • Tell people you care about how much you care about them.
  • Enjoy giving.
  • Enjoy getting lots of zzzzz’s

Make a list of all the things that could make you happy during the holidays, all things considered.

And make sure your hormone levels are where they are supposed to be.

DECK THE HALLS WITH BOUGHS OF HAPPY HORMONES

When your Happy Hormones–or for that matter, any of your hormones–aren’t too happy because they’re out of balance, wishing on a star can’t help you when it comes to getting them back where they’re supposed to be. But getting them checked at Thrive Health Solutions absolutely can.  The medical professionals at Thrive can keep unbalanced hormones from taking your body hostage and the Ho Ho Ho out of your holidays. With simple tests, the experts at Thrive can pinpoint any hormone deficiencies you may have and create a unique treatment plan tailored just for you. Think of it like a present that fits perfectly. Make sure there’s plenty of magic in your holidays, and have some Happy Hormones. They’re truly the gift that keeps on giving. Call or text Thrive Health Solutions for an appointment now.

NOTHING FUNNY ABOUT LOW TESTOSTERONE

LET’S TALK LOW TESTOSTERONE FOR A MINUTE

Of our 150 or so hormones that keep us alive that you could surely never name, testosterone is one of those hormones you know something about. Or so you think. Say “testosterone” and the first word that comes to mind, is “men”. Being testosterone-fueled is something men aspire to, and women look for in a man. Testosterone=sex. It’s what makes a man a man. Well, actually women have testosterone, too. Testosterone is produced by testes in men and by the ovaries in women though in much smaller amounts. It is also produced by the adrenal glands in both sexes. Low testosterone in men and low testosterone in women can both lead to a variety of health issues which we’ll go into in a bit.

ALL LAUGHTER ASIDE

While they say laughter is the best medicine, the fact is, that low testosterone in men and low testosterone in women can have disturbing effects on the body. Dead serious. Low levels of testosterone, also called Low T, can produce both internal and external symptoms, both physical and emotional. These include:

  • Increased fat and weight gain
  • Loss of body and facial hair
  • Reduced bone density and brittle bones
  • Reduced sperm count and infertility
  • Low libido
  • Low self-esteem
  • Limited sperm production
  • Loss of muscle mass and strength
  • Memory loss and lack of concentration
  • Sleep apnea
  • Depression and anger
  • Less red blood cell production
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Increased fatigue
  • Hot flashes

DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR TESTOSTERONE LEVELS ARE?

Pretty sure what your answer is. Well, as you’ve seen, low testosterone is no joke. It’s quite possible that you go through your days feeling some of the things above and would never even think to attribute it to low testosterone. You might go to see your primary doctor and they could easily diagnose it as something else. They wouldn’t think to test your testosterone levels. It’s not their area of expertise. You need to consult with someone who is an expert at knowing how to diagnose and treat both men with low testosterone and women with low testosterone. You need to consult with the experts at Thrive Health Solutions.

Thrive has years of experience treating patients with both testosterone injections and testosterone pellets. The testosterone used in both is bioidentical which means it is the same as your body produces naturally, making it safer than any synthetic testosterone you can find online or over-the-counter. Thrive will explain everything you want to know about injections and pellets. They will answer any questions about what is right for you, and what works with your lifestyle and your wallet.  A simple blood test is all it takes to tell them if your testosterone levels are low enough to benefit from testosterone therapy. No one at Thrive will ever talk you into something you don’t need. Call or text Thrive Health Solutions at (303) 790-8446 now to feel your absolute best. Take low testosterone seriously.

BHRT; SO MANY QUESTIONS

WHAT IS BHRT?

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy. An acronym for energy, fitness and overall good health. You probably get the “replacement” and “therapy” part, but the” bioidentical “and “hormone” …mmm, probably not entirely. So before we get any deeper into BHRT, let’s start at the beginning; hormones.

WHAT ARE HORMONES?

Hormones are fluctuating chemical messengers that circulate in the bloodstream and affect the function of every cell and organ in our body. They coordinate everything from digestion and growth to your appetite, immune function, brain function, and libido. We couldn’t live without them. There is a progressive drop in hormone levels as both men and women age. As the levels decline, health quickly follows.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I NEED BHRT?

80% of all adults over 40 are hormonally imbalanced. Two of the most important hormones which are often treated with BHRT are estrogen and testosterone. Spoiler alert; both men and women, have both. While most men don’t have a lot of estrogen, it plays a part in their heart, bone and brain health. Testosterone plays a role in the growth and maintenance of red cells, female reproductive tissue and bone mass.

Symptoms of hormone imbalance in men include:

  • Erectile dysfunction (Yikes.)
  • Hair loss (Yikes.)
  • Fatigue or loss of energy (Not good.)
  • Increased body fat (Really not good.)
  • Heart palpitations (Scary.)
  • Depression or anxiety (Depressing.)
  • Man boobs (No. No. Please, no.)

Symptoms of hormone imbalance in women include:

  • Heavy, irregular or painful periods (Ouch.)
  • Osteoporosis (Break more than a leg.)
  • Weight gain (Toss the scale.)
  • Thinning hair (Not exactly sexy.)
  • Increased hair growth on face, neck, chest or back (Gotta be kidding me.)
  • Insomnia (A million sheep and counting.)
  • Acne (Pimple time.)

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BIOIDENTICAL HORMONE THERAPY (BHRT) AND SYNTHETIC HORMONE THERAPY (HRT)?

Bio-identical hormones are exactly that—identical.

Clinically the same as those naturally produced by the body. This allows the body to use them in exactly the same manner as it does its own hormones. Which means they can safely and easily be absorbed and processed by the body without rejection.

Synthetic hormones are exactly that—synthetic.

Artificial. Fake. The hormones used in traditional HRT are made from the urine of pregnant horses and other synthetic hormones which the body recognizes as foreign substances they try to reject. This can come with negative side effects including links to higher risk of certain cancers.

HOW IS BHRT ADMINISTERED?

Where standard HRT can be delivered by pills you can forget, messy gels or sticky patches, bioidentical hormones are delivered in the form of hormone replacement pellets (both estrogen and testosterone), and testosterone injections. Because, as we’ve mentioned above, men and women both have testosterone and estrogen whose levels can become imbalanced, hormone pellets and testosterone injections are safe, proven options for both.

SO, WHAT ARE HORMONE REPLACEMENT PELLETS?

Pellets are uniquely compounded bioidentical hormones about the size of a cooked grain of rice, painlessly placed just under the skin as an in-office procedure. They deliver a consistent, steady and healthy level of hormones into the bloodstream over a period of a few months, preventing the rollercoaster-like effects of regular one-size-fits-all HRT.  They also bypass the liver avoiding possible clotting factors, blood pressure, glucose or liver function.

WHAT ABOUT TESTOSTERONE INJECTIONS?

The primary use of testosterone injections is as a treatment for sexual dysfunction in males and postmenopausal symptoms in females. As with pellets, the amount of testosterone in every injection is custom created to administer exactly the right amount to keep the levels in the bloodstream flowing evenly. Testosterone injections are given every 7 to 22 days depending on the degree of imbalance. This allows for careful ongoing monitoring and dosing.

WHERE DO I GO WHERE THEY REALLY KNOW ALL ABOUT BHRT?

Thrive Health Solutions.

The medical professionals at Thrive have had endless years of experience with BHRT. They understand the intricacies of precisely administering the exact amount of hormones your body needs, based upon advanced testing. Every individual is different, so every protocol is individualized. Over-the-counter or online hormones are like playing guessing games with your health. You can’t self-diagnose true hormone imbalance and you can’t count on those products as really being what they claim. At Thrive Health Solutions, BHRT is held to the highest standards of safety and purity. If you’re looking for a naturally effective way to increase your energy, decrease excess fat, increase muscle mass improve your sleep, lift libido, reduce inflammation, bolster immune function and so much more, you’ve found the solution; BHRT at Thrive Health Solutions. Sick and tired of feeling sick and tired? Call Thrive for an appointment now. And know what it feels to feel truly balanced.

THE LOWDOWN ON LOW TESTOSTERONE AND THE LOW T SHOT

Low testosterone is all about sex, (not having it, you think) right? All you know, really, is that you want it…lots of it. It’s what makes a man a man. Enough of it can raise you to the level of a super man. But low testosterone levels can cause a lot more trouble than trouble between the sheets. A Low T shot can do a lot to help. Low T shot? Read on, men, we’ll get to that.

EVERYTHING YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT LOW TESTOSTERONE AND LOW T SHOT

You probably (hopefully) know that testosterone is a hormone. This “male hormone” as it is often known, is produced by the gonads, although small quantities are also produced by the adrenal glands. Yes, it has a role in how you roll with the opposite sex, but it plays a big role in a long list of other important stuff.  Low T, untreated, can lead to:

  • Weight gain (even obesity)
  • Less body hair
  • Thinner bones (osteoporosis-no it’s not just for women)
  • Loss of muscle mass and strength
  • Less red blood cell production
  • Increased fatigue
  • Sleep apnea
  • Emotional changes like anger, and loss of memory, concentration and depression

It’s all depressing. But a Low T shot can take it all on.

TAKE THIS LOW TESTOSTERONE TEST

When it comes to the topic of low testosterone it’s questions and more questions. Can you answer any of these?

What Causes Low T?

Could be a number of things. Some more unusual, some not so: it could have been a problem from birth, undescended testicles, obesity, high levels of the hormone prolactin (maybe you should get that looked at), HIV, AIDS, excess estrogen (maybe you should get that looked at), sleep apnea, excess alcohol, high levels of stress, and of course, aging. Which gets us to the next question.

Can Men In Their 20s Have Low T?

Definite yes. Testosterone levels tend to peak in men during adolescence and early adulthood. Those levels typically decline by about 1 percent each year, starting around age 30. These rates do accelerate with age. But in some cases, 20 could be the magic number.

Are Over-The-Counter Testosterone Treatments as Good as Low T shots?

Definite no. Not zinc, ginger, peppermint or vitamin D. No Amazon orders of fertility fuels, mega male or testo boosters. And certainly not fenugreek, ashwagandha or elk antler velvet. (It’s been tried).

Are Steroids A Good Treatment for Low T?

While you might have “The Rock” envy, anabolic steroids can cause severe acne, oily skin and hair, or even hair loss. Worse, it can lead to liver disease, kidney disease, even heart attacks and strokes.

Do You Feel Any Of The Symptoms Mentioned Above?

RESTORE TESTOSTERONE THE RIGHT WAY WITH A LOW T SHOT PACKAGE

If your answer to the last question was even “maybe”, you owe it to yourself to get your testosterone level checked. Which means you should head to Thrive Health Solutions.

Everyone at Thrive understands just talking about your testosterone levels could be a delicate subject. So they start by answering any of your questions, and take the time to explain all about testosterone replacement therapy, including the Low T shot which is both powerful and fast acting. To determine what’s really right for you, first they check your testosterone levels with a simple blood test. This allows the medical specialists at Thrive to create a unique, highly individualized treatment plan which could include a Low T shot package. Low testosterone doesn’t have to get you down a minute more. Text or call Thrive Health Solutions at (303) 790-8446 now. And take a shot at feeling your best.

A TALE OF LOW T

Ah, testosterone. Images of bulked up hunks, revved up and raging to go…Burly, sometimes bully, macho maniacs just itching to get in someone’s face. Over anything. Well, sorry to break into your colorful reverie, but there is a lot more to Low T, misunderstood testosterone than you’d imagine.

But let’s start simple; testosterone is a hormone. Often called the “male hormone”. Made from cholesterol. (Interesting, huh?) Produced in the testicles (spoiler alert; women have it too, but we’ll get to that later) it is secreted into the body and is the genetic driver to the growth and maturing of sexual organs and sexual identity. When it’s working at full power, you’re going full speed ahead. But when testosterone levels begin to unlevel off…well that’s another thing. Hello Low T.

WHERE HAS YOUR SEX DRIVE DRIVEN?

According to the American Urological Association, both men and women in their 30’s begin to experience low testosterone or what’s referred to as Low T. It isn’t just aging that makes testosterone tank. While the production of testosterone starts to increase significantly during puberty, it begins to dip after age 30 or so. (Bye-bye…) No matter what age, Low T levels can produce a variety of symptoms in men, including: (you’re not going to like this)

  • Weight gain
  • Hair loss
  • Loss of muscle mass and strength
  • Fatigue
  • Sleep apnea
  • Reduced bone density (not just for gals, guys…)
  • Less red blood cell production
  • Less energy
  • Depression and mood changes
  • Decreased body hair
  • Increased breast size (Oh no, the dreaded moobs…)
  • Hot flashes (Could it get any worse?)

Glad you asked. Because yes, there’s the whole sex thing. Testosterone isn’t the only fuel for a man’s sex drive and performance. But Low T can absolutely reduce your ability to have satisfying sex. And doesn’t unsatisfying sex sound like an oxymoron? Low T can make it difficult to get or maintain erections. (Not too pleasing to your partner, either.) And speaking of partners, it can also reduce levels of semen and sperm production. Less of the usable man-stuff floating around in your blood. (Good to know if you’re thinking of producing any little kiddos.) Face it, when your libido lags, your self-esteem isn’t far behind.

WOMEN, START YOUR TESTOSTERONE

How little is truly known about sex in the stronger, just as incredible as men sex—women. Fact; women do have testosterone. They produce it in their ovaries and adrenal glands, albeit in less amounts than men. (We do ace out in estrogen, however). A woman’s testosterone levels naturally change throughout her life, her menstrual cycle, and even at different times of the day. But Low T in women is most common when they are pre and post-menopausal. As with men, Low T can mean trouble in the way the body functions. Or rather, disfunctions. This list of symptoms ought to lower more than your T:

  • Loss of muscle tone in arms and legs (Dingle, dangle anyone?)
  • Fatigue
  • Thinner hair
  • Drier skin
  • Depression
  • Increased body fat (Love handles, heavens…)
  • Loss of bone density/osteoporosis (Beware those broken bones).
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Fertility issues
  • Irregular menstrual cycles
  • Vaginal dryness (Give us a break…)
  • Poor memory or concentration
  • And like men, we can’t forget sex: (How can we forget sex?)
  • Loss of libido (Perhaps you’ve heard of “not tonight, honey?)

And to top it off…painful intercourse. Frankly, it’s all painful.

THE LOW T GAME; POP IT, PATCH IT, GEL IT, NEEDLE IT

There are multiple options for testosterone delivery to battle Low T. Over the counter T-Booster supplements don’t have anything to support claims of actually increasing testosterone.  Then there are topical creams and gels. Messy. Sticky. Not just icky, but iffy when it comes to levels of absorption. Patches? Just as problematic. Maybe more so. Just take a gander at the lengthy instructions they come with. Are they kidding? Maybe the only instruction they come with should be “Do not do this at home”.

TESTOSTERONE; WHY PELLETS ARE PERFECT

Testosterone pellets are a form of hormone replacement therapy for both women and men that have been around since the 1930’s. So we’re not talking some newfangled thing here. Something untested or unproven. Pellets, which are about the size of a grain of rice and are easily and painlessly inserted under the skin. The body begins to slowly metabolize the pellets, releasing a steady, optimal dose of hormones, much like our normal function, over three to six months. No remembering to take pills, deal with messy patches or creams. And only with pellets can you be confident that your body is getting the exact amount of hormones it needs. Which eliminates an up and down roller coaster effect that comes with other forms of testosterone delivery.

NOT SURE ABOUT PELLETS; TRY T INJECTIONS

Testosterone injections are relatively new to the market and should be administered by a medical practice like Thrive Health Solutions. The injections are painless subcutaneous testosterone injections with a tiny needle. They are a great solution for both men and women with the added bonus of a time release effect by injecting into the fat. Which make these injections so much easier and comfortable to self-administer. The T Injections, also known as the T shot, are an alternative to the pellets for those who are suffering from Low T but are not ready for the expense of pellet therapy. With T Injections you get weekly injections and after a few weeks, you can determine if a testosterone treatment is working for you.

MENOPAUSE – HIT THE PAUSE BUTTON WITH HORMONE PELLET THERAPY

For literally every woman, life is a non-stop onslaught of hormonal fluctuations starting with puberty and ending with menopause. Low levels of even just one hormone can lead to uncomfortable symptoms and may impair production of other hormones, resulting in a complex web of hormone imbalance. One way these hormone imbalances can really blast your health is during menopause. Have you ever heard an encouraging word about it? Mood mania. Memory loss. Weight gain. Vaginal dryness. Oh, and the two words that truly strike terror in our hormone-racked bodies: hot flashes. The most powerful word to describe menopause? “HELP!” Well, feel better, because help is out there in the form of bioidentical hormone pellet therapy. You just have to arm yourself with the facts. The most important being the difference between synthetic and bioidentical hormones.

SYNTHETIC HORMONES: A HARD PILL TO SWALLOW

“Synthetic” is just what it sounds like; fake, artificial, manufactured. Synthetic, or conventional hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is based on the use of lab-formulated, patented hormones. Hormones unlike those naturally occurring in your body.  Which means your body isn’t all too happy they’re there. Not only do synthetic hormones have to pass through your liver, but their artificiality can lead to a list of complications and risks. Synthetic hormones just aren’t the real thing.

BIOIDENTICAL HORMONES ARE EASY TO IDENTIFY WITH

Bioidentical hormones are what they sound like; identical. Scientifically, they are hormones derived from natural sources, and have an exact structural match to the hormones produced by your own body. This “bioidentical” structure allows these hormones to follow the same pathways and act on the same receptors as your natural hormones, making the risk of side effects minimal and the safety and efficacy of the treatment optimal. Safe, tested, effective…we like the sound of that.

WHY WOMEN ARE SO HOT ABOUT HORMONE PELLET THERAPY

Hormone Pellet Therapy? New? Novel? No way. Hormone replacement therapy by pellet implantation has been used with great success in the United States and Europe since 1938. You might not have heard of it, because your general practitioner probably isn’t versed or experienced in it. Pellets, which are smaller than a grain of rice, contain bioidentical hormones developed and custom-compounded according to exacting and strict standards as laid down by the FDA. They are uniformly tested for consistency and purity. It gets even better.

THE HORMONE NO-BRAINER

Using a painless office procedure that can take less than 15 minutes, these tiny pellets are inserted under the skin in the hip or stomach area. The pellets release small amounts of hormones directly into the bloodstream, hormones which are similar to those the ovaries produced during our younger adult years. As the pellets dissolve, the hormones are steadily absorbed into your system in way that most closely mimics your own body’s release of hormones, preventing the rollercoaster-like effects that patients can experience from other methods of delivery. No patches to change, no creams to rub in, no pills you hope you remember to take.  Pellets usually last between 3-4 months in women anddo not need to be removed. They completely dissolve on their own.

MENOPAUSE IS A PAIN. TREATMENT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE.

Hormone Health Treatment Denver – What the Heck are Hormones Anyway?

For hormone health treatment to be effective you need to understand it. The word “hormone” comes from a Greek word that means “to spur on”. That’s exactly what hormones do within your body. They act as catalysts to spur on chemical changes within your cells that supply energy and aid in development and overall health. The glands of the endocrine system send hormones throughout your bloodstream telling each part of your body what work to do, when to do it, and for how long. The eight hormone-secreting glands of the endocrine system are the adrenal gland, hypothalamus, pancreas, parathyroid gland, pineal gland, pituitary gland, reproductive glands (ovaries and testes) and thyroid gland. But some other organs and tissues that are not generally considered part of the endocrine system also produce and secrete hormones.

IT’S A BALANCING ACT

Simple fact is, you couldn’t live without your hormones. And you can’t live well when they’re out of whack. Even if you’re living a healthy lifestyle with good nutrition and regular exercise, you’re not reaping the full reward of your efforts if your hormones are imbalanced. So what can cause this imbalance? Unusually high stress, insufficient sleep, an unhealthy diet, lack of exercise, diabetes, menopause, pregnancy and thyroid problems, are just a few culprits. The body has a very delicate chemistry. Changes in that chemistry can quickly produce noticeable symptoms and other health problems.

HORMONES; HAVOC AND MAYHEM

When your hormones are out of balance, it can go way beyond your body feeling “eh”.  When your hormones go rogue, they can cause:

  • Weight gain/weight loss resistance:
  • Hair loss
  • Low sex drive
  • Weak bones
  • Fluid retention
  • Acne
  • Infertility
  • Mood swings, brain fog and anxiety
  • Sleeplessness
  • Digestion issues
  • Poor concentration
  • Fatigue

That in itself is enough to make you feel sick.

HORMONES. HAVE A LAUGH

On a lighter side, here are a few fun facts about the 50 or so master controllers of your body:

  • Ever wonder why guys get so uncomfortable when a woman cries? Probably because they can feel their penis shrinking. The smell of a woman’s tears immediately lowers testosterone levels and kills sexual arousal.
  • When you fall in love, you’re basically high. The hormones that are released when you’re first falling in love are on par with cocaine in how they affect your brain. All those hormones have the same compounds as amphetamines, so yeah, you’re totally high as a kite.
  • Your hangover is the result of drunk hormones. When we drink alcohol, it messes with the job of the antidiuretic hormone. What follows is the incessant peeing that happens when you drink, which is a major contributor in being hungover. So think of it this way: every time you drink, you’re kinda getting your hormones drunk too, because they quit behaving appropriately — like you.
  • British intelligence planners seriously considered secretly administering small doses of estrogen into the food of Adolf Hitler, in order “to make his character less aggressive” and to make his mustache to fall off. No joke.
