Tirzepatide weekly weight loss injection (known as Mounjaro) is the most potent FDA-approved weight loss medication ever produced with an average weight loss of more than 23% of starting weight. It’s the first and only dual GIP/GLP-1 receptor agonist hormone that controls both insulin and glucagon secretion. In addition, the GIP hormone controls lipids and fat deposits in the body. The two hormones in the once-a-week Tirzepatide injection work together as a single molecule. Acting in the brain, stomach, pancreas, and bowel. Tirzepatide controls appetite, fullness, and metabolism. The FDA is set to approve Tirzepatide, known as Mounjaro as a treatment for obesity soon.
In addition, like Ozempic and Wegovy (Semaglutide) it delays gastric emptying producing fullness for many hours. Tirzepatide is prescribed “off label” for weight loss, similar to Semaglutide instead of Ozempic. Greater weight loss and glucose control and fewer side effects are found with Tirzepatide as compared to Ozempic and Wegovy because it consists of 2 active hormones acting together.
Thrive currently offers Tirzepatide as an injectable.
Tirzepatide Injection: An option where you can adjust dosage as needed, this option is comprised of only Tirzepatide, otherwise known as Mounjaro.

Tirzepatide is what is known as a “dual glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide–GLP-1 receptor agonist.” This long and complicated name means it can do two things:
1. Stimulate GLP-1 receptors in the body to both help control blood glucose and reduce hunger, promoting weight loss.
2. Promote release of glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide which helps modulate levels of a hormone called glucagon and improve insulin sensitivity of adipose (fat) tissue.
Tirzepatide comes in single-use, pre-filled syringes. Each syringe is 1 dose. To use the syringe, simply remove the cap and inject into the skin in the upper arm, belly or thigh. The medication will be delivered subcutaneously.
Once per week. Choose a day that is convenient for you, and set a reminder so that you don’t forget!
The starting dose is 2.5 mg, which is taken once weekly for a month. The dose can then be increased to 5 mg, also taken for a month. The dose can be further increased by 2.5 mg every month, up to a maximum dose of 15 mg. This process can take up to 20 weeks.
Tirzepatide is considered a long-term medication. If you are tolerating it well, and it is helping you to lose weight, it is recommended to continue the medication.
Tirzepatide is contraindicated in patients with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer, which is a rare type of thyroid cancer. However, it is safe to use if you have a history of hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, or currently take thyroid medication.

- At higher doses—10 and 15 mg—participants lost 20% of their body weight. Average weight loss = 52 lbs.
Most Tirzepatide research results suggest it is more effective than Ozempic or Semaglutide for weight loss. Gastrointestinal side effects are lower with Tirzepatide than with other weight loss drugs.
