Neuromodulators are wrinkle-relaxing injections of botulinum toxin –commercially known as Botox and Dysport, which only work on what are called “dynamic wrinkles”. Lines caused by smiling, frowning, squinting and other facial expressions.
In addition to treating “dynamic wrinkles” or lines created by the movement of muscles, Botox can also be used to add arch to eyebrows, ease lines around the mouth, and give the corners of the mouth lift.
The most common areas for treatments with Botox are:
- Glabella or frown lines– the area between the eyebrows
- Forehead lines
- Crow’s Feet
- Marionette lines that extend from the corners of the mouth down to the jaw
- Neck bands or cords
- Sagging eyebrows
