Facial Fillers & Neuromodulators

For most of us, life has enough wrinkles. We run, we do, we run faster. We don’t always eat right, or sleep enough. We live with stress, we don’t always remember sunscreen. Worst of all, we age. No matter how old we are, it can all take a toll on how we look. And it’s a look we’d rather not spend a lot of time looking at. Which is hard in a world where social media has sparked an era of selfie examination. But regrettably, we can’t go through life with filters. What we can do to reverse the signs of time is invest in ourselves with the use of facial fillers. And both men and women are doing just that in growing numbers. Market researchers predict the global facial injectable market will more than double over the next 10 years. So you’re not alone.

Thrive Health Solutions is a DIAMOND provider of Botox® and Dysport® Injectable Cosmetics as well as Juvederm® and Restylane® cosmetic fillers.

Dermal Fillers

Facial fillers, sometimes called soft tissue or dermal fillers, can work all sorts of magic. But there’s a lot to know than just knowing you want them. Injectable facial fillers give you a more youthful look for a fraction of what a traditional facelift costs. Most will fill hollows, lines, and wrinkles in less than 30 minutes with results that can last from 6 months to more than a year. But not every facial filler is right for every type of wrinkle. The least risks and best results come from using the right one correctly. Different types of facial fillers are designed to treat varying signs of aging. Some of the more popular brands of facial fillers-and the ones we use at Thrive – include Restylane® and Juvéderm®.

Juvéderm:

Made of a hyaluronic acid gel, Juvéderm is a naturally-occurring substance in the skin that contributes to volume and hydration. Juvéderm is designed to temporarily correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds.

Restylane:

A non-animal, biodegradable gel composed of hyaluronic acid, Restylane is a soft tissue facial filler that adds volume to the skin through tiny injections; smoothing facial folds and wrinkles in areas around the mouth and eyes.

But hey, wait a minute. What about Botox? Where does Botox fit in? Believe it or not, Botox, isn’t actually a facial filler. It’s a neuromodulator.

Neuromodulators

Neuromodulators are wrinkle-relaxing injections of botulinum toxin –commercially known as Botox® and Dysport®, which only work on what are called “dynamic wrinkles”.  Lines caused by smiling, frowning, squinting and other facial expressions.

Botox:

In addition to treating “dynamic wrinkles” or lines created by the movement of muscles, Botox can also be used to add arch to eyebrows, ease lines around the mouth, and give the corners of the mouth lift.

The most common areas for treatments with Botox are:

  • Glabella or frown lines– the area between the eyebrows
  • Forehead lines
  • Crow’s Feet
  • Marionette lines that extend from the corners of the mouth down to the jaw
  • Neck bands or cords
  • Sagging eyebrows

Dysport:

Dysport, which is the other neuromodulator we use at Thrive is also an injectable botulinum toxin. Botox and Dysport are very similar in their ability to temporarily improve the look of moderate to severe wrinkles. Dysport is was introduced in the spring of 2009, and was developed to compete with the highly popular Botox®. Dysport is a smaller-sized molecule so its unit measurement or dose, is different than Botox, making it a more cost-effective alternative. Additionally, Dysport should be used for moderate to severe cases of wrinkles only.

The most common areas for treatment with Dysport are:

  • Glabella or frown lines – the area in between the eyebrows
  • Forehead lines
  • Crow’s Feet
  • Vertical lip lines

Other than what facial fillers can do, there are other important things to consider. First of all, you get what you pay for. Botox parties are a rage. Dentists and even gynecologists are getting in on the action. People take a weekend course and are suddenly overnight experts. Ninety percent of the success of these kind of cosmetic treatments depends on who is doing them. It’s imperative that you check out the credentials of anyone you trust your face to. At Thrive Health Solutions you get aestheticians experienced and highly skilled in using facial fillers and advanced injection techniques. During your consultation, our practitioner will thoroughly explain the benefits of facial fillers and if they are applicable to your specific needs. At Thrive we approach every face with an artistic eye. Less is more is our mantra. We never do drastic or overdone or deliver results that never scream “I had something done!”. No dreaded duck lips, no looking like your face got caught in the winds of a tsunami. We give you “you”, only better. More rested. More youthful. More natural. No one’s best look is not looking like themselves.
